Scott Morton advises clients on data privacy and commercial contracts issues, international trade and sanctions compliance, ASA complaints, comparative advertising issues and ad clearance, direct marketing, prize competitions and regulatory compliance.
He advises organizations on data protection matters, including compliance, data processing agreements, data subjects’ rights, international data transfers (including BCRs), internal and consumer-facing policy reviews and data protection impact assessments.
Scott’s practice also focuses on international trade compliance, particularly export controls and UN, EU and UK sanctions.
Scott has extensive brand experience and spent time in-house with The Coca-Cola Company where he advised on marketing and advertising, high-value sponsorship and talent agreements, and intellectual property matters. He also reviewed trade mark infringements and provided general advice relating to other Coca-Cola brands.

The EU’s AI Act: A Review of the World’s First Comprehensive Law on Artificial Intelligence and What This Means for EU and Non-EU Companies
The agreed text of the AI Act was published on July 12, 2024, essentially starting the clock on the legal deadlines contained in it. Its obligations will apply in tiered phases, with the first key obligations being enforced beginning February 2, 2025.
