As a part of its “In the Spotlight” series, Israel Desks recently featured a detailed Q&A with Pillsbury’s Israel practice leader Ari Berman.

Berman, who is also the co-leader of Pillsbury’s Securities Litigation & Enforcement practice, identified several strategic objectives for Pillsbury in Israel including expanding the firm’s presence and client base within the Israeli market; continuing to help Israeli clients enter the U.S. market through Pillsbury’s unique combination of its technology and regulatory practices; and continuing to develop strategic partnerships, among others.

“The Israel team’s objectives are designed to complement and reinforce the global firm’s overarching goals of market expansion, client service excellence and innovation,” Berman said. “By aligning these objectives with the firm’s global strategy, the Israel team aims to contribute significantly to the firm’s growth and success on an international scale.”

Berman emphasized that the team utilizes cross-practice collaboration, which ensures the Israel team is aligned with the latest legal developments there and throughout the world.

Recognizing Israel as one of the world’s leading startup and venture capital ecosystems, Berman highlighted several initiatives that the firm has recently participated in such as hosting a U.S.-Israel Technology Meetup, which featured 10 Israeli startups pitching to potential investors; hosting the 2024 Wharton Israeli Innovation Conference, which drew over 125 participants to discuss cutting-edge topics such as cybersecurity and fintech; participating in the START AgriTech partnership, during which Pillsbury’s Nathan Renov—deputy head of the firm’s Israel practice—mentored 12 startups in Intellectual Property and VC issues; and, most recently hosting a continuing education program with the former Dean of Columbia Law School to discuss antisemitism on campus.
