Pillsbury partner Shani Rivaux (Litigation) and senior counsel Justin Rubin (Government Law & Strategies) recently attended Miami’s inaugural Tech & Invest conference, hosted by Israeli daily business and economics newspaper Calcalist and Bank Leumi.
At the conference, Rivaux and Rubin sat down with CTech, Calcalist’s tech column, to discuss the firm’s involvement in the Israeli tech industry.
“We really think about ourselves as a lifecycle firm where we work with a lot of Israeli companies, from startup to funding,” Rivaux said. “Whether it’s companies that are coming to invest in the United States or companies that are growing in Israel that are looking for funding, we work with every aspect and really look to be that strategic partner.”
In the area of advocacy and lobbying for Israeli companies, Rubin explained his role in helping companies that are emerging into the U.S. markets.
“We will work with the companies, identify the government budget and opportunities, and look at how we take that budget and match that up to capabilities companies have,” he said. “We meet with members of Congress regularly, both Democrats and Republicans. We're a very bipartisan practice, working with the Department of Defense, and Department of Homeland Security, who are the buyers and customers, working with program managers and others figuring out how to create that demand.”
