Intellectual Property partner and managing partner of Pillsbury’s San Diego office, Callie Bjurstrom, has been selected for inclusion in Daily Journal’s 2025 Top Intellectual Property Lawyers list, marking her second consecutive inclusion. The recognition honors the achievements of California’s leading intellectual property attorneys, acknowledging their exceptional work in patent litigation, trademark and copyright law.

“I love learning new and interesting technologies,” Bjurstrom shared in an interview with Daily Journal. “I also love the challenge of taking something incredibly complex and finding a way to make it understandable to the average person.”

Reflecting on her career, she added: “I love trial work, and since IP cases tend to be bet-the-company cases and tried more often, I gravitated to these cases.”

The article highlighted two significant cases that she led for a Southern California medical device company—one related to patent infringement and the other addressing trade secret misappropriation in relation to neurovascular disease treatments. Both cases were against the same competitor.

Bjurstrom’s recent role in co-leading a litigation matter for Xilinx and its parent company, Advanced Micro Devices, was also featured. In this case, she obtained a favorable settlement on the eve of trial.

She also expressed a particular interest in future AI-related litigation, noting that “AI has posed challenges related to IP ownership and control in recent years.”

“With the continued advancement of AI and its use and integration into business processes and daily lives, questions of IP ownership and control are currently playing out in courtrooms across the United States and the world,” she concluded.
