Peter Hunt, a New York-based Pillsbury partner, is recognized by The Legal 500 U.S. as a leader in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
Peter has extensive experience advising employers, financial institutions and investment funds on fiduciary and compliance issues under ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code and securities laws, and he regularly counsels on employee benefits and compensation aspects of corporate acquisitions and dispositions. He designs stock option and equity-based compensation plans; drafts employer pension, profit-sharing and executive compensation plans and trust agreements; obtains IRS determination letters and rulings; and seeks Department of Labor exemptions and opinions.

- Advised Clearwater Paper Corporation in its definitive agreement to acquire an Augusta, a consumer packaging designer and producer.
- Represented the purchaser and borrower in the $1 billion+ purchase of Hudson Commons at 441 Ninth Avenue in Manhattan.

- Represented Headwaters Inc. in its $2.6 billion acquisition by Boral Ltd.
- Advised Spin Master Corp. on its $85 million acquisition of Swimways Corp.
- Advised NTT Data Corp. in its purchase of Dell Inc.’s IT services arm, Dell Systems.
- Advised the Beijing E-Town Dragon Semiconductor Industry Investment Center in a $300 million acquisition of U.S.-based Mattson Technology.
- Represented Ikanos in its acquisition by Qualcomm Atheros in a deal estimated to be worth more than $45 million.
- Served as outside counsel for Cervalis Holdings during its acquisition by CyrusOne Inc.
- Advised PSEG Power LLC in its acquisition of the Keys Energy Center project in a deal estimated to be worth more than $800 million.
- Advised Clearwater Paper Corp. during the sale of its specialty products division, including five North American mill facilities, to Dunn Paper Inc.
- Represented Deutsche Bank in U.S. Bancorp’s agreement to buy Deutsche Bank AG’s municipal bond trustee business.
- Advised on executive compensation aspects of tender offers and mergers of publicly traded companies.
- Advised on human resources and benefits aspects of acquiring a business with operations in the U.S., including Puerto Rico, and 18 other countries.
