Pillsbury added 26% to its Texas headcount in 2024, making it the third fastest growing law firm in the state, according to data published in the Texas Lawbook 50.

This significant expansion was highlighted in the 2024 Texas Lawbook 50, an annual report that ranks firms based on headcount and performance data submitted by firms practicing in the state.

The firm’s growth in Texas is especially notable as both the Houston and Austin offices reach key milestones this year. The Houston office is celebrating its 22ndanniversary, while the Austin office marks its 11thanniversary—underscoring the firm’s long-term commitment and expanding presence in the region.

The firm’s growth was driven by a series of strategic lateral additions in its Austin and Houston offices. Last year, the firm welcomed Emerging Companies & Venture Capital partner Andy Smetana (Austin) and counsel Margarita Kelrikh (Houston), along with energy and construction litigator Derrick Carson. Most recently, Litigation partner Amy Ruhland joined the Austin office, while Daniel Belhumeur, Blake Berkey and Frank Xue strengthened the firm’s Corporate, Energy and Commercial transactions practices in Houston.

To support this continued growth and investment in the Texas market, Pillsbury also secured new office space in both Austin and Houston, providing an enhanced environment to accommodate expanding teams and client needs.
