Intellectual Property partner and co-leader of Pillsbury’s Artificial Intelligence practice Michael Horikawa was recognized as a 2024 Rising Star by IP Stars. The acknowledgement follows a string of recognitions throughout 2024.
Pillsbury’s Intellectual Property practice received numerous high marks from IP Stars including a ranking for Trademark Prosecution and Trademark Disputes for the California jurisdiction and a Tier 3 “Recommended” ranking for Trademark Prosecution in the United States (National) jurisdiction. Additionally, Pillsbury’s Virginia jurisdiction earned a “Highly Recommended” ranking, and four IP partners garnered individual rankings with three Patent Stars (William Atkins, Jack Barufka and Bryan Collins) and one Trademark Star (Callie Bjurstrom). Finally, the Patent Prosecution practice received a Tier 3 in the United States (Nationally) and was “Recommended” in California.
Covering multiple IP practice areas and more than 50 jurisdictions, the Managing IP Awards program, which was first launched in 2006, is among the most comprehensive and widely respected awards programs in the legal industry. The program’s rankings are based on data from research conducted by IP Stars.
Michael Horikawa handles all aspects of patent, copyright, and trademark law, focusing on computer-related technologies, consumer electronics and biomedical devices. His experience includes representing clients in patent and other IP litigation in Federal District Court and at the International Trade Commission, and in alternative dispute resolution proceedings, often involving numerous parties and a multitude of patents.
