While space nuclear power and propulsion, or SNPP, may advance the U.S.’s interests in space exploration and resource extraction, among other things, the liability risk for commercial launches of nuclear material is still obscure.

A recent study conducted by Energy attorneys Clarence Tolliver, Sid Fowler and Jeff Merrifield provides historical, policy, regulatory, empirical and technical insights on the possible expansion of the nuclear accident financial protections of the Price-Anderson Act (PAA) of 1957 to cover private sector SNPP systems.
