Sam Iverson advises clients on trademark and copyright protection, including counseling, clearance, prosecution, enforcement, licensing and transactions.

Sam’s practice covers all aspects of trademark law, including U.S. and foreign clearance, prosecution, opposition and cancellation proceedings, enforcement, licensing, domain name disputes and due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. Sam also advises on copyright, media and entertainment matters, covering clearance, licensing, transactions and enforcement. Enforcement work has included counseling on new and evolving intellectual property issues in the internet and digital worlds, such as issues relating to artificial intelligence, non-fungible tokens, web scraping and Web3 domains.

Sam is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), currently participating on the Famous and Well Known-Marks Committee.

  • Co-manage the global trademark portfolios for two Fortune 100 companies, including U.S. and international clearance, prosecution, maintenance, administrative proceedings, civil litigation, cease-and-desist matters and online enforcement, collectively covering 10,000+ active prosecution matters and 2,000+ active dispute matters worldwide.
  • Manage dozens of small- and mid-sized trademark portfolios for clients of all sizes, stages and sectors, including in the consumer products, fashion, food and beverage, software, entertainment, telecommunications, financial services, education, health care, energy and social media sectors.
  • Prosecuted and registered dozens of U.S. trade dress registrations for product configurations and design elements, along with numerous foreign registrations for three-dimensional, position and other non-traditional trademarks in more than 15 countries spanning five continents.
