Brendan Hogan is an attorney in Pillsbury’s Litigation practice who focuses on advising clients on complex insurance disputes.

Brendan advises corporate policyholders on commercial policy placement, insurance recovery, credit risk insurance, cyber insurance and enterprise risk management for emerging technologies. He regularly advises financial clients on cutting-edge insurance products, including wrapped-financing and related credit-risk mitigation.

Brendan also works with companies to manage directors and officers and representation and warranty insurance matters from policy placement through claim submissions and, if necessary, litigation. He represents a wide range of policyholders in coverage litigation in state, federal and international cases. Brendan’s in-depth knowledge allows him to speak and write on coverage issues for risk managers, in-house attorneys, brokers and privacy professionals.

  • Negotiated and placed insurance-wrapped financing on multiple loan portfolios for hedge fund clients.
  • Resolved substantial representation and warranties insurance claim arising out of purchase of a seemingly successful payment processing company by a private equity firm without litigation.
  • Negotiated terms of financial insurance portfolio for financial technology company, including bespoke insurance policies for crypto currencies.

  • Obtained favorable settlement under a financial crime insurance policy in favor of a corporate policyholder that was defrauded by a former corporate executive that used funds earmarked for charitable purposes to allegedly pay bribes to foreign officials.
  • Advised global auto manufacturer on insurance issues related to loan portfolio and credit risk insurance.
  • Successfully negotiated insurance recovery on behalf of national homebuilder for multiple additional insured claims arising out of alleged defects in subcontractors work on a major condominium project while at a prior firm.
  • Won summary judgment for benefit of policyholder in coverage dispute arising out of primary insurer’s incorrect assertion that its policy contained an aggregate limit for lead paint claims while at a prior firm.
  • Negotiated favorable coverage language for key definitions, terms and conditions in cyber coverage tower while at a prior firm.
